At a large, mainly Kushwaha, gathering to celebrate Phule Jayanti, Madhya
Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the launch of two annual awards of Rs.2 lakh each, one in
Phule's name, the other in Savitribai’s – one for significant contributions
in the field of education, the other in social service. Also, a Phule statue is planned in Gwalior, and
the MP school syllabus will include a chapter on the Phules.

MP Chief Minister announces annual Phule awards
